Detailed Overview
YOGA TEACHER TRAINING ON LINE – ENABLING AND EMPOWERING SAFE,
COMPETENT AND POPULAR YOGA TEACHERS
Namaskar, and salutations!
We are delighted to announce that the Shiva Dancing School of Yoga (RYS-200) has received its registration from Yoga Alliance for training teachers in the Rajadhiraja/Ananda Marga style. Classes will be on line, at times convenient for everybody as much as possible. We are also pleased to note that the Shiva Dancing School of Yoga is now affiliated with the Neohumanist College of Asheville. The course is registered for 9 credit hour per semester, and will take 2 semesters to complete.
We are planning to start our next weekly live sessions in early 2024, as soon as we have 10 viable trainees. There will be approximately 20 live sessions, depending on the number of trainees participating. The live sessions last about 2 hours, and are currently scheduled to begin 8:30 pm Eastern time on Saturday nights. In India, they would begin 6 am Sunday Mornings, and in Malaysia they begin 8:30 am Sunday mornings. It is possible, based on requirements of the trainees, that we may switch it to 8:30 am Eastern time on Saturday mornings, with attendant changes for others, such as those in Europe. Depending on the number of trainees registering, we may even have 2 sessions 12 hours apart. Attendance is mandatory, and makeups will be scheduled. These live sessions are primarily for asana review and for questions and answers.
Prerecorded videos constitute the bulk of the course, and are viewed along with the live sessions, with the trainees submitting summaries of each session they watch, on a weekly basis. The prerecorded videos last a total of 5-8 hours per week, with additional time as needed to write and submit the summaries, which may be as short as a few paragraphs or as long as you like for your own benefit and that of others.
Ananda Marga/Rajadhiraja Yoga includes Karma (action), Bhakti (devotion) and Jiñana (knowledge). Ananda Marga means “Path of Bliss”, and this style includes ovter 40 asanas and mudras, self-massage, meditation, dance, diet, philosophy, anatomy, physiology, ethics, and kirtan (chanting). We will include techniques and asanas from other styles, as well as discussions on the Business of Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Safety inYoga, and Foreign Mission Yoga. We expect also to train you in Prison Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Chair Yoga and Geriatric Yoga as popularly taught by Acarya Pashupati.
Motivated beginners who wish to deepen their practice are welcome to join us. Physical condition is not a barrier to successful yoga training, and in fact, we welcome those who are physically limited so that others in the class can learn how to adjust asanas to meet the needs of those less able.
Our curriculum will also include music theory, singing lessons, guitar and harmonium and drum lessons as needed to make the prospective teacher competent to play simple kirtans and bhajans (devotional songs). Some Sanskrit and Bengali songs will be taught, along with English, Spanish and Hebrew as desired by the trainees. Special videos and training are provided to help the trainees to create their own studios and get hired by outside yoga studios.
Participants who complete the program will be Certified as teachers, and depending on prior Ananda Marga training or subsequent retreat attendance, will qualify for Yoga Alliance recognition as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200). Selected trainees with prior training and experience will be eligible to apply for 500 hour RYT or ERYT status with Yoga Alliance.
Online Tuition will be $1000 per person, either up front or in 4 installments. Partial scholarships may be made available to deserving trainees and they will be given materials to help raise funds to make up the slack. No one will be turned away for lack of all funds. Adjustments can be made for those for whom timing is difficult. Current Ananda Marga Acaryas and LFT’s may attend for minimal cost and will be expected to fundraise to help support the college with their tuition.
We are also offering a similar in-person course, at $2000 per person including food and lodging at the Neohumanist College of Asheville.
It has been my privilege to be a member of the Yoga Alliance Board of Directors from 2002 to 2008. Prospective trainees are invited to request my full CV, a DVD which we produced entitled "Yoga for All" and to email instructor at Steven.Landau@nhca.gurukul.edu to arrange a meeting. I will also be happy to send
brochures and flyers. Please also see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxuiKLUD9qM on You Tube. You may access reviews of our course at www.yogaalliance.org and look for the Shiva Dancing School of Yoga. Established RYT's - you are also invited to join us during individual training sessions to
obtain Continuing Education hours with Yoga Alliance, and to share your own tips and experiences with us. Some of you may be eligible to use this course as an upgrade to 500 hour status with Yoga Alliance.
We will have a good time and great fun! Please go RSVP today!
Best wishes for great success in your yogic and life endeavors.
