Children learn best through fantasy, play and ideals. - P.R. Sarkar
Course Description
This course introduces both the concepts and methods of storytelling as a transformative tool in education and parenting.
On the theoretical side, we will explore how stories support children’s psychological development, helping them process emotions, nurture compassion, and grow the wisdom to make better life choices. The imagery within stories becomes a mirror for children’s inner world, guiding them toward balance and understanding.
On the practical side, participants will learn techniques to fully engage listeners and empower children to tell their own stories. Simple, hands-on methods: such as making props from cardboard or paper — will make storytelling accessible and fun. The stories are carefully graded, making them effective not only for language learning but also for children with delayed or impaired speech development.
Storytelling can be more than entertainment: it can form the heart of the curriculum. As a pedagogical model, it integrates academic subjects such as math, geography, history, language arts, oratory, and drama, while also cultivating joy, creativity, and lifelong wisdom.
Experience a completely unique learning journey! Participants will:
-
Develop a clearer vision of the role storytelling plays in Neohumanist education.
